Centurions Announce 19 Man Squad For Sunday’s Batley Encounter

Leigh Centurions have named their 19 man squad ahead of Sunday’s Betfred Championship Round 2 game against Batley Bulldogs at LSV (3pm).

Kurt Baptiste is included in the squad for the first time and Kevin Larroyer and Ilias Bergal have also yet to make their Centurions debuts.

Ten players earned their heritage numbers last Sunday and the next available number is #1445.

A 68 page issue of the Centurion will be on sale priced at £3. Last week’s issue sold out 20 minutes before kick-off but the Club has printed 30 more if any supporters missed out and would like one for their collection. These are available by emailing Andrew@leighrl.co.uk.

Before the game their will one minute’s silence in memory of Gerald Seddon, the life-long Leigh Centurions supporter who tragically died in a road traffic accident last Sunday on his way home from the game.

In order to secure the ticket area of your choice and to avoid congestion at the Ticket Office in the immediate period leading to kick off, supporters are strongly advised to purchase their tickets in advance of match day where possible and are reminded that the Ticket Office is open from 9am on the day of the game.

Any supporters who have pre-purchased their match tickets and have been advised to collect them will be able to do so from any window at the LSV Ticket Office from 9am on the day of the game. Corporate ticket collections will take place from Main Reception (situated beneath the big screen at the front of the Kingstone Press West Stand).

We don’t want you to miss a moment of Betfred Championship action so please arrive at Leigh Sports Village with plenty of time to sample the pre-match atmosphere. Supporters with tickets for The Holland’s Pies North Stand should be aware that there are turnstiles open at both ends of the stand.  

For this fixture, Batley Bulldogs supporters have been allocated blocks A & B in the Kingstone Press West Stand and can buy their tickets via the avenues above.

Turnstiles are open at 2pm. Catering kiosks serve a variety of hot and cold snacks along with hot beverages and both soft drinks and alcoholic beverages. Kiosks close 20 minutes after the start of the second half.

As always, traffic congestion is expected around the stadium and supporters are advised to allow extra time in their journey. However, should you miss the kick off then there are ‘late gates’ situated in each stand which will be open until the end of the first half. These turnstiles are turnstile 19 (The Holland’s Pies North Stand), turnstiles 1 and 23 (Kingstone Press West Stand) and turnstile 5 (South Stand).  

Please note that Plank Lane is closed at the canal bridge, with a diversion in place from Plank Lane to Firs Lane, Twist Lane, Atherleigh Way, St Helens Road, Sandy Lane, Byrom Lane and Slag Lane. As such, all approaches to the stadium are expected to be busier than normal and spectators are advised to allow extra time in their journey.

There is a limited amount of on-site parking available at Leigh Sports Village, all free of charge. Access to these car parks is via Sale Way, situated directly off A579 Atherleigh Way, with stewards on hand to direct cars where necessary.

Free car parking is also available at Leigh RUFC, situated 15-20 minutes’ walk from the stadium. The clubhouse will be open for business, with the facility to pre-book a car parking space at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/leighrufc.

Free car parking is also available at Leigh Cricket Club on Beech Walk. There are also numerous pay and display car parks situated in Leigh town centre, approximately 10-15 minutes’ walk from the stadium.

All approaches to the stadium and town centre, in particular A579 Atherleigh Way and A580 East Lancashire Road, are expected to be busy and supporters are advised to allow extra time for their journey.

For those travelling by public transport, Leigh bus station is situated in the town centre and is served with regular connections from Manchester, Bolton, Wigan, Warrington and St. Helens. Leigh bus station is a 10 minute walk from the stadium.

The nearest train stations are Atherton (4.2miles), Newton-le-Willows (5.3miles) and Wigan North Western on the West Coast mainline (7.9miles).

The Legends Bar (situated at the front of the Kingstone Press West Stand) will be open from 1pm, serving a range of soft drinks, alcoholic beverages and Holland’s Pies and will also be open after the game. Compere Clive Render will be hosting the regular match day quiz from around 1pm.
There are also catering kiosks available in each stand which will be open from 2pm, serving a variety of hot and cold snacks along with hot beverages and both soft drinks and alcoholic beverages. Kiosks close 20 minutes after the start of the second half.

Please note that no food and drink is to be brought into the stadium. If you have any specific dietary or medical requirements please speak to a steward prior to entry.

Club merchandise will be on sale from 1pm until kick off from the Kukri trailer located opposite the Ticket Office, with all of the latest club merchandise available to purchase.


We would like to kindly remind all supporters that, in line with government legislation, smoking is not permitted anywhere within Leigh Sports Village Stadium. This also includes the use of e-cigarettes.

We would also like to remind supporters that unfortunately there is no re-admittance to Leigh Sports Village Stadium, should any supporter wish to exit the stadium in order to smoke.

We appreciate the cooperation of all supporters regarding this matter.

In light of advice received from Greater Manchester Police, please be aware that overt searches, such as bags and personal searches will take place to detect any prevent any prohibited articles from entering the stadium and to provide a visual deterrent.

This searching is conducted under the authority of the Leigh Sports Village Ground Regulations and will apply to staff, partners, visitors and spectators. Any refusal will cause the person not to be admitted into the stadium.

The following articles must not be brought within the ground: golfing umbrellas, knives, fireworks, smoke canisters, air-horns, flares, weapons, dangerous or hazardous items, laser devices, bottles, glass vessels, cans, poles and any article that might be used as a weapon and/or compromise public safety. Any person in possession of such items will be refused entry to the ground.
