Job Description:
Leigh Centurions Rugby League Club is seeking a Business Development Manager to work from our state of the art modern facilities, Leigh Sports Village. The successful candidate will be responsible for sales for all commercial properties and developing relationships with new and existing sponsors. The successful candidate will be driven, ambitious, take great pride in their work and will be passionate about customer care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Growing new revenue streams and commercial partnerships
  • Identifying and securing new sponsorship/sales opportunities
  • Proactively solicit new business by, among other things, making sales calls and presentations, attending local networking events, and engaging in other activities in order to increase the size of the club’s potential client database.
  • Production of cold calling plan to increase penetration within the local markets
  • Lead generation including researching and targeting companies and individuals for meetings/sales presentations
  • Growing and protecting business and achieving growth in client accounts
  • Generate and close profitable sales as part of the commercial strategy
  • Manage the needs of customers in order to meet our sales objectives
  • Achievement of individual sales, margin and new business targets for the month, quarter and year
  • Produce detailed and accurate reports and status updates for the Commercial Director
  • Managing the relationships with clients and partners and ensuring delivery of sponsorship agreements • Deliver on business plan targets and objectives

Person Specification:

  • Strong sales ability
  • Proven track record with B2B sales
  • Ability to demonstrate success in previous sales environments
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Good account management of sponsorship agreements
  • Be able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Accomplished IT skills – including Microsoft Office applications
  • Confident communicator at all levels (oral and written)
  • Excellent customer service skills and telephone manner
  • Self-motivated with great attention to detail
