Toulouse 16 – 18 Leigh

Craig Hall was Leigh Centurions’ match winner for the second week in a row as Kieron Purtill’s men achieved a stunning win in France.

After scoring the winning try against Halifax Hall came up trumps again this time with the boot, nervelessly converting a vital penalty to break a tense last quarter deadlock and earn his resurgent side their tenth win in eleven Betfred Championship games.

Kevin Larroyer, Jamie Acton and Ricky Bailey scored first half tries for Leigh with a single Ben Reynolds conversion.

Gavin Marguerite scored an early try for the hosts who transferred this key game to Albi, 70km north.

Bastion Canet’s converted try saw the home side 10-14 in arrears at the break and they regained the lead through Constantine Mila five minutes after the re-start with Mark Khierallah adding his second conversion.

Hall tied the scores with a penalty and emerged as the decisive game breaking personality of a fiercely fought and tense encounter.

Head Coach Purtill and owner Derek Beaumont later acknowledged the tremendous travelling support from the Leyther Army. Thanks to each and every person who travelled- it meant so much to the players, officials and staff.
