Leigh Centurions To Launch Under 19’s Ladies Team

Leigh Centurions are delighted to confirm that this season the club will be entering the Ladies U19’s League.

Recruitment for players is currently taking place with an open training session being held on Monday 13th May at 7pm at Leigh Miners, Twist Lane.

This is open to Ladies aged 16-19 years. All u19s players can dual register with a professional club, so even if you are playing Championship or League 1 rugby elsewhere you can Dual Reg to play under 19s (Games won’t affect your current team as matches are played on different dates). It is hoped to attract ladies new to the game.

The team will be coached by Paul Arnison and Nige Johnson who have a wealth of experience coaching in Scholarships, Girls England Talent Pathway, Lancashire Women and assisting the England Ladies team over the last 15plus years.

Heather Parker-Preece, Community Development Manager said: “This is a first for Leigh Centurions Rugby League club and we are really excited to get things up and running. There are a great number of talented young girls and ladies now enjoying playing our great sport and with the support and backing of the RFL and professional clubs this could provide great opportunities for ladies and girls in the future.

“We hope all our supporters get behind this new venture in supporting the Leigh Centurions U19’s Ladies team.”
