Ben Reynolds Returns To Leigh Centurions

Leigh Centurions are pleased to confirm that Ben Reynolds (#1398) has re-joined the Club on a permanent transfer from Wakefield Trinity in a contract that runs to the end of the 2020 season.

Reynolds, 25, was Leigh’s top points-scorer in 2018 with 291pts from nine tries and 128 goals including one drop-goal before moving to Trinity at the end of the year.

Leigh Centurions head coach John Duffy said: “I’m delighted to get Ben back on board at our Club. He’s a player who knows what it means to play for Leigh Centurions and he’s very vocal on the field.

“He’s someone who can get us around the pitch and hopefully add value and competition to the halves, a department where we’ve gone off the boil in recent weeks.

“I’ve coached against Ben in the last few years and he doesn’t take any prisoners. He’s a mixture of an old school and new school halfback and he knows the game.

“He knows he’s got to take his opportunity but everyone I’ve spoken to rates him highly. I’m looking forward to working with Ben and helping him to get to where he needs to be.”

Ben Reynolds said: “I’m looking forward to playing with a lot of my old team-mates again and starting to enjoy my rugby again.

“At my age I want to play every week, not just six or seven games. I want to get the consistency back in my game and having met Duffs it’s easy to buy into what he’s building here.

“We’ve got the rest of the league fixtures to look forward to and we’ll be pushing towards the play-offs so it’s an exciting time to be back at Leigh. I’m delighted to be back and I’ll be doing my best to help the club achieve its goals and aspirations.”

Reynolds initially joined Leigh in November 2014 after graduating through the ranks at Castleford Tigers. He had come to the fore during the 2014 season, making two Super League appearances for the Tigers and impressing on a dual-registration contract with York City Knights.

He was joint Championship One Player of the Year alongside York team-mate James Saltonstall in 2014 and had loan spells at Doncaster and Dewsbury during his first spell at LSV. He established himself with 22 games during the Super League season of 2017, amassing 158pts including a nine goal haul in the memorable 50-34 win over Wigan in June of that year.

In 115 career games he has scored 39 tries and kicked 297 goals including one drop-goal for a total of 749pts and has played six games for Wakefield and six on loan at Featherstone Rovers during the current season, including playing a prominent role in Rovers’ recent 24-20 victory over Leigh.

Ben Reynolds is sponsored by Struktura Engineering Services Ltd. Of behalf of the company, director Karl Hill said: “It’s great to welcome Ben back to Leigh Centurions and we will all look forward to seeing him in a Leigh jersey again. I’d like to thank Derek and the board for continuing to strengthen the club at the business end of the season while also building for the future.”
