Leigh Confirm Re-Signing Of Brad Holroyd

Leigh Centurions are delighted to announce the re-signing of talented utility back Brad Holroyd.

Last season, Holroyd’s first team opportunities were limited so he spent time at St Helens Academy, helping them to reach their Grand Final where they lost to Wigan.

Leigh head coach John Duffy said: “Brad was something of a project for us last season. He was unlucky because we couldn’t give him much game time during the season so we sent him over to Saints Academy and he really flourished there.

“He scored some fantastic tries for Saints and played in their Grand Final. We really wanted to keep him at the club and see massive potential in him.

“We are going to play him in our friendlies next year and see how he goes because he’s got the experience of facing Super League quality players. Hopefully he will kick on, put a bit of weight on and be challenging for a first team spot.”

A former England Lions U19s international, Holroyd has played on the wing and at full-back and signed professional forms from Leigh East in January this year. He trained Duffy’s squad last winter and impressed the Leigh coaching staff enough for them to offer him a contract.

Holroyd said: “I’m delighted to sign for another year at Leigh. I cannot wait to get back to training and hopefully get some game time under my belt.”

As a teenager, Holroyd represented England Lions and Lancashire U19s in the Three Counties Championship.

Born in Warrington, Holroyd played for Crosfields and he became the first Leigh Centurions player to be born in the year 2000. He scored on his Leigh debut, a 62-12 win over Workington Town in the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup, earning #HN1488.
