Leigh Centurions confirmed the signing of the experienced NRL star Mitch Brown from Cronulla Sharks just ahead of the July transfer deadline.

Born in Sutherland, New South Wales Mitch Brown is a former Gymea junior who represented the Australian Schoolboys in 2005 and made his NRL debut on the wing for Cronulla against Penrith in 2006.

He played for Cronulla until the end of the 2009 season before joining Wests Tigers and moved onto play for Canterbury Bulldogs early in the 2012 campaign. He was a member of the Canterbury side that lost to South Sydney in the 2014 NRL grand final.

In the last two seasons he has been back at Cronulla and shortly before moving to England he missed best man duties at his brother’s wedding to score a try against Penrith in the Sharks’ 13th consecutive victory that enhanced their position at the top of the NRL ladder. Brown is credited with 39 tries in 132 NRL games.
