Danny Addy was a Hull KR player when Leigh Centurions visited Craven Park in the Coral Challenge Cup last year.

“Leigh should have probably won that day,” admitted Addy who was installed as the Centurions Club Captain before the start of the new season. “It was a tough physical game but now I’m fully focused on Leigh, I love it here and it’ll give us a good test of how far we’ve come.”

The Robins won 14-10 last year despite being behind for much of the game. On Sunday, Leigh return to the same venue to face a Robins side that has endured a difficult start to the season.

“I’m looking forward to it as I would any other game,” said Addy. “I’m sure we will all be up for it and have a big week in training. We’ll be looking to cause a little upset – there’s no pressure on us – they’re the Super League team.

“It’d be good to have some noise behind us so I hope the Leigh fans will turn out in force. Hull KR have got a good fanbase as well so I’m looking forward to playing in a really good atmosphere.”

Leigh have won all five of their games in 2020 with Addy at the helm, four of those successes coming in the Betfred Championship. The Club are currently second in the table with a game in hand over leaders Toulouse Olympique.

In the fourth round of the Coral Challenge Cup, Leigh were 36-10 winners over Championship rivals Batley Bulldogs.

Last Sunday, Leigh had to cope with playing for 42 minutes down to 12-men but they still had enough to see off a determined Halifax side at the Sports Village.

“We didn’t do ourselves any favours getting someone sent off and another in the bin,” said Addy. “But the game showed the character we have got in this group even if it wasn’t our best performance.

“I reckon everybody would have written us off at half-time when we went in with only 11 men but to grind out a win like we did was important to us.”

After Sunday’s trip to Hull KR, Leigh will refocus on the Championship with Oldham the next visitors to the LSV.

Addy said: “We just need to keep taking one game at a time. We are not looking beyond that at the moment because every week is different.”
