Leigh Centurions are delighted to confirm that Ben Reynolds has agreed to extend his contract by another two years to the end of November 2023.
Reynolds, 27, re-joined the Club in April on a transfer from Toulouse Olympique but after playing 11 games his season was cut short by a knee injury.
Ben Reynolds said: “I’m really pleased to have signed the deal. It’s where I’ve been enjoying my rugby and it’s given me something to look forward to over the next couple of years. Hopefully we can kick on and do great things at Leigh. I also want to say thanks to the lads for welcoming me back to the club and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
Leigh Centurions interim head coach Kurt Haggerty said: “It’s great to have Ben on contract for the next two years. Before his injury he showed really good signs and he’s shown quality when he’s been fit. He’s a pivot with experience at Championship and Super League level and he still has a lot to offer in a Leigh shirt. It’s exciting for the club to have secured Ben’s services for the next couple of years as there is definitely more to come from him.”
Reynolds first came to Leigh in 2015 after impressing in a reserve match for York City Knights against Leigh Centurions played at Leigh East. A former Castleford Tigers Academy product, he enjoyed an outstanding season on loan at York in 2014 when he was voted joint Championship One young player of the year.
After helping the Centurions gain promotion a year later, he became a regular during the Super League season of 2017. In 2018 he amassed 291pts in 28 games, including his first century of goals in a season. He subsequently joined Wakefield Trinity in 2019 but re-joined the Centurions towards the end of that season before taking up the opportunity to play in France.
Reynolds has played 95 of his 134 career games for Leigh Centurions, scoring 33 tries and kicking 253 goals, including one drop-goal and holds heritage number #1398. His career tally of 861pts comprises 44 tries, 342 goals and one drop-goal.
